Summer Visits 2020

PLEASE NOTE THAT OUTINGS ARE CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS.  WE HAVE RE-BOOKED THEM FOR 2021 – DATES AND DETAILS TO FOLLOW.

All outings pick up Waitrose/Beacon Centre NOT Windsor End.  Should the visit be oversubscribed, then preference will be given to members of the Beaconsfield & District Historical Society.

23rd April 2020 – Brockhamton Estate, Bringsty, Nr. Bromyard, Herts. WR6 5TB
Cost: £14 (N.T.), £23 (Non N.T.)- CANCELLED

Traditionally farmed estate and medieval manor house.  Moated Manor House entered via a timber-framed gatehouse. Miles of walks and gardens with wildlife and historic farm animals.

7th May 2020 – Packwood House, Lapworth, Warwickshire B94 6AT.
Cost: £13 (N.T.), £25 (Non N.T.) – CANCELLED

Much restored Tudor house, park and beautiful gardens and topiary.  The house was restored by Graham Baron Ash in the 20^th century.  Good collection of 16^th century textiles and furniture.

3^rd June 2020 – Hatchlands Park, East Clandon, Surrey. GU4 7RT.
Cost: £11 (N.T.) £24 (Non N.T.) – CANCELLED 

Built in the 1750s, this large country estate is now a family home containing collections of paintings and furniture as well as Europe’s largest collection of keyboard instruments.

25th June 2020 – Layer Marney Tower, Layer Maney, Nr. Colchester, Essex. C05 9US.
Cost: £22 – CANCELLED

After a visit to the Tiptree Jam Factory, it’s on to Layer Marney.  Layer Marney Tower is an impressive Tudor skyscraper built on a site overlooking the River Blackwater.  The Marney family have probably been here since 1166.

20th July 2020 – Osterley House & Park , Isleworth, Middlesex, TW7 4RD
Cost: £10 (N.T.), £20 (Non N.T.). – CANCELLED

Osterley is one of the last surviving country estates in London.  Created by Robert Adam in the 18^th century for the Child family, the house is presented as it would have looked in 1780.

10th August 2020- Cotswold Jewels (City & Village tour)
Cost £40 – CANCELLED

Starting with a guided tour of Moreton-in-Marsh, the tour continues in Stow-on-the-Wold and Broadway before continuing to Seizincote House which was built in 1805 in Neo-Mughal style.
Coach leaves Waitrose at 9 a.m., Beacon Centre 9.10 a.m. Seizincote 5 p.m.

10th September 2020 – Charlcote Park, Wellsbourne, Warwick CV35 9ER.
Cost: £12 (N.T.), £21 (Non N.T.). – CANCELLED

Charlecote Park has been the home of the Lucy family for over 900 years.  It is surrounded by a deer park and gardens.
