After a visit to the Tiptree Jam Factory, it’s on to Layer Marney. Layer Marney Tower is an impressive Tudor skyscraper built on a site overlooking the River Blackwater. The Marney family have probably been here since 1166.

Osterley is one of the last surviving country estates in London. Created by Robert Adam in the 18th century for the Child family, the house is presented as it would have looked in 1780.
