Paper cuttings book 1968-1977 Book 3
A bound version of paper cutting of local papers. There was an article in the Beaconsfield Chronicle from 3rd-19th of July 1968; about Quebec High School band from Beaconsfield Canada playing at Beaconsfield High School. There were many extracts of articles and photographs in the Beaconsfield Chronicle, The Bucks Free Press; from 13thNovember-20th May on plans for and on the 700th Beaconsfield Fair. There was an article in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser on January 9th 1969 about 10 flats that were being built at the Mead. There were extracts from the Bucks Free Press and The Buckinghamshire Advertiser from 21 August-4th December; about Dick Smith becoming he youngest ever competitor to win the national Town Crier championships at 22 and receiving the new uniform. There was an extract from The Buckinghamshire Advertiser on October 16th October 1969 which has a map and 2 photographs of the Old Town in the conservation were and also a brief hwastory of the style of Buildings from 17th Century-1969. There was extract from the Buckinghamshire Advertiser on 4th June 1970 about plans for to demolwash the Earl of Beaconsfield Pub and to replace it with a supermarket and 7 shops. There were articles in the Bucks Free Press and The Buckinghamshire Advertiser from 31st July-13th August over proposals to demolwash Wendover House in London End. There was an article in The Buckinghamshire Advertiser on August 20th 1970 about Dick Smith winning the national Town Crier championships for the second year in a row. On the 11th December 1970 there was an obituary to Mr Walter Gay Manager of the Chiltern Cinema who was great campaigner in the film hwastory and there were a series of previous articles relating to the cinema and him from 4th September 1968-December 11th 1970. There has been a series of articles and a photograph from The Buckinghamshire Advertiser and The Free Press about Beaconsfield having its own Coat of Arms, from 29th January-7th October 1971 when plans were dropped. There was an photograph from the Bucks Free Press on April 30th 1971 that shows Lady Burnham presenting a book of photographs past chairman’s of the council. There were 2 articles about the new roundabout at Junction at Park Lane in the Buckinghamshire advertwaser and the Bucks Free Press from 2nd and 8th July 1971. There was an article in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser on 5th August 1971 about the building of a new office Block and laboratory at Butler’s Court. On the 30th September 1971 in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser; there was an obituary for Mr Stanley Whitehead who was a M.B.E and was often described as Beaconsfield first Citizen and there was a previous article and photograph on 25th February 1971 on history retirement from the Beaconsfield Council after 35 years. There was an extract in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser on 9th December 1971 about plans for demolishing of the Warwick Court flats. There was an article in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser on 30th December 1971 about opposition to build a block of flats on the site of Enid Blyton home and adjoining house in Penn Road. There was an article in the Bucks Free Press on 28th July 1972 about the hand over ownership from the council to the National Trust of Hogback Wood. There was an article and a photograph in the Bucks Free Press on 1st April 1974 about the Fair. There was an article in the Bucks Free Press on 30th May 1974; about plans to build 10 new flats on Cherry Tree Road in Holtspur and the opposition to it. There was an article and photographs in The Observer about the new rooms and science laboraties at Beaconsfield County Secondary School. There were a series of articles and photographs in the Bucks Free Press and The Bucks Advertiser from 14th November 1974-23th January 1976 about plans for the Council’s new offices; which eventually turned down. There was an obituary in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser for Mr Donald Easton who was the Deputy Mayor for Beaconsfield. There was an article on 26th March 1976 about 90 new homes that were being built in Malthouse Square.
