A Ramble round the Old Town pg 31
Parish Magazine article with photographs. Article details the three cottages on the south side of the High Street. Made of local material – clay bricks. The wattle and daub fill of the wooden frame was replaced with brick. Beaconsfield was at its most prosperous in the 18th century a lot of the coach houses had Georgian facades but actually had Tudor period features inside. Many buildings had large double doors for coaches and horses. Horses were changed every 8 miles. many were then taken to Holtspur for feeding and rest. Detail is given of the Kings Head pub RRE down pipe and sundial.
