Cross Purposes
Interview between reporter Sue Benwell and Julia Carey a countryside officer from Buckinghamshire County Council about Whiteleaf Local Nature Reserve Restoration Project an 11acre site near Monks Risborough. The aim is to define and restore the famous hill Whiteleaf Cross. Its age is unknown but it was dug two feet into the chalk. Surrounding areas were cleared exposing the World War I practice trenches, massive prehistoric dyke, three neolithic barrows the cross and removing vegetation on the top of the escarpment amazing views as far as possibly the Black Mountains.
