Order of Service for Choral Evensong to celebrate 800 years of Christian Ministry in Beaconsfield
Order of Service for a Choral Evensong celebrating 800 years of Christian Ministry in Beaconsfield by the Preacher The Right Revd John Pritchard, Bishop of Oxford. First vicar of Beaconsfield was William de Windsor in 1210. The service of Evensong originated from Latin services of Vespers and Compline sung prior to the Reformation. The Evensong was one of a series of celebrations including a book by Robin Pedler ‘1210 and all that’, an exhibition about the Fitzwilliam Centre, a church concert by the Choir of St Brides and workshops for young people, visits to museums and talks on historical research.
