Summer visits 2016

All outings pick up Waitrose/Windsor End.  Should the visit be oversubscribed, then preference will be given to members of the Beaconsfield & District Historical Society.

 April 28th 2016 – Stonehenge and Salisbury Cathedral, Wilts. Cost £45.

As well as walking all the way around Stonehenge, we visit the visitor centre as well as spending time at Salisbury Cathedral.
Coach leaves Waitrose 9 a.m; Windsor End: 9.10 a.m; Leave Salisbury 4.45 p.m.

May 19th 2016 – Syon Park, Brentford, Middlesex. Cost £21

Syon Park is the home of the Duke of Northumberland and has been in the family since 1594.
Coach leaves Waitrose 9.30 a.m; Windsor End 9.40 a.m; Leave Syon Park 4.00 p.m.

16th June 2016 – Penhurst Place, Tonbridge Kent. Cost £22.

Penhurst Place was once the property of Henry VIII and has been in the continuous occupation of the Sidney family for over 460 years.
Coach leaves Waitrose 9.00 a.m; Waitrose 9.10 a.m; Leave Penhurst Place 4 p.m.

30th June 2016 – Bodiam Castle & Great Dixter, East Sussex. Cost £24 (NT), £32 (non NT)

Visit to 14th century Bodiam Castle followed by Great Dixter, home of the late Christopher Lloyd, gardening writer.
Coach leaves Waitrose 9.00 a.m; Windsor End 9.10 a.m; Leave Great Dixter 5 p.m.

21st July 2016 – Arundel Castle, West Sussex. Cost £29.

Built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel, the castle has been open to visitors for 200 years and is set in 40 acres of land.
Coach leaves Waitrose 9.00 a.m; Windsor End 9.10 a.m; Leave Arundel 4 p.m.

8th August 2016 – Sissinghurst Kent & Bateman’s East Sussex. Cost £14 (NT), £34 (non NT).

Sissinghurt was the home of Vita Sackville-West who transformed its gardens. Bateman’s is a 17th century house and is the former home of Rudyard Kipling.
Coach leaves Waitrose 8.15 a.m; Windsor End 8.25 a.m; Leave Batemen’s 5 p.m.

8th September 2016 – Wimpole Estate, Cambridge. Cost £16 (NT), £31 (non NT).

A working Estate, owned by the National Trust, still guided by the seasons with an impressive mansion, Home Farm and landscape park.
Coach leaves Waitrose 8.30 a.m; Windsor End 8.40 a.m; Leave Cambridge 4 p.m.
