Gloss colour photograph showing The Old Stables Buildings at No 28a Baring Road. The railway horses were stabled here in 1906. The buildings at rear of no 28 (now used as a mower sale and repair business) were originally used to stable some 30 horses in 1906. These horses worked at the new station to cart coal and other goods also with buses and carriages. There was a large coal yard and goods depot at the station which served a large area in and around Beaconsfield. The floor, loft and walls still exist as do the spit stable doors. The toilet is also the original and the pedestal is bricked around the bottom to stop it being broken by the workmen’s heavy boots. The owner at the time was Mr Bill Gandy. BDHS has copies of two original documents related to the buildings one of which is signed by Mr Du Pre.
