Vol 27 Buckinghamshire Religious census 1851.
6th population Census conducted by the Home Office supervised by Horace Mann, London Barrister on Sunday 30 March 1851. More elaborate including survey of church and chapel accommodation and attendance at worship. Details of any places of worship including the Quakers were collected included history, funding and attendance at different services. Records are not complete due to non recording (census not supported by Bishops in House of Lords, complaints about the weather, difficult terrain and illness) or distribution of records to neighbouring counties. 1837 Buckinghamshire taken from diocese of Lincoln to become part of Oxford . Not accepted by Oxford until 1845 Census records were collated into a Parliamentary paper in 1853. Original stored in Public Reference Office at Kew under ref HO129.
