Mrs Hawksworth lived in Beaconsfield with her husband from 1949. She was a keen gardener, helped in the Women’s Royal Voluntary Service from 1953 as a fundraiser at Cliveden Hospital as well as helping at the Clothing Company the Clothing Centre opening in 1960, restarting Meals on Wheels, setting up the Holtspur Infant Welfare Clinic in Maxwell Road (1963) . She also received OBE in 1967 and the WRVS Long Service medal
