The Story of the Chiltern Polish Community
Nostalgia article relating to the polish community in the 1940s. Hodgemoor wood just off the A355 between Beaconsfield and Amersham was the largest and first arrivals were in 1946 and contained about 600 polish residents. Camp had two types of buildings, barracks and semi-circular Nissen huts of corrugated iron. They were very basic but were standard for the time. Includes photos.
