William Penn in Buckinghamshire
Article details William Penn quaker son of the Admiral Sir William Penn. William Penn was born in 1644 and married in 1672. He received the charter from Charles II in 1681 to found Pennsylvannia. Pennsylvania was named after his Admiral father. William Penn married Gulielma from Amersham. He was an active quaker. He was a friend of John Milton. The article details the life of William Penn including visits to America. He loved Buckinghamshire as well as Philidelphia with houses in both places. He frequented Jordans and the quaker house and detail of this building is made especially of the Mayflower Barn. He died in 1718 and is buried with his first and second wife and many children in Jordans quaker burial ground.
